Theme: inspired by Rene of Anjou and King Rene’s Tournament book “Le Livre des tournois (Traicte de la Forme de Devis d'un Tournoi) from the 1460s

 

The fighting will be inspired by King Rene’s tournament book and have an emphasis on the heraldic display fieldside. Aaron Rebellinus is Mic with Master Elphin as Rapier marshal. The tournament prize will include a scroll in the style of the tournament book. Magister Bran is helping to coordinate the tournament prize scrolls.

 

Lady Gulia Stanizi will run the target archery for the event.

 

Master Eadulf Beornwaldes will run the Thrown weapons.

 

Rene was also known for his even temper, fairness and charity. He was a supporter of arts, illumination, and gardening, sculpture, goldsmithing, tapestry making among other things. The arts and sciences competitions will follow in keeping with these ideas as well. We are planning on including an illuminated scroll competition based on this style, a tapestry challenge, and largesse. Since TSS’s Tourney of Mananan has a love theme the theme here would give artists another opportunity to display artwork created for that event and possibly inspire more participation in both events.
